Water Polo on the Mind

Water Polo on the Mind

I’m a big believer that you can improve your water polo game by watching as much water polo as possible.  The fall is a great time for young water polo players to watch local collegiate teams and local high school teams compete.

One of our local collegiate water polo teams, Stanford is ranked #2 in the nation and has up and coming USA stars like Bret Bonanni, who was recently nominated for FINA player of the year.   If you missed out on the opportunity to watch the Stanford men this season, don’t worry you still have some time to catch some of the local High Schools compete for the CCS championship.

Last month at Independence High School you had the chance to watch the finals of Boys and Girls CCS championships Division 1 and 2.  You have local teams like Sacred Heart Prep, Menlo School, Gunn and Castilleja in the semi- final and hoping to play in the final.  If you cannot make any of the High School games don’t worry you have time to plan for the upcoming women’s collegiate season, which begins in February. You will definitely want to catch a game or two as Stanford defends its National Championship and tries to win one at home. A feat no school has accomplished, the host team has never won the title.  Please mark your calendars for May 8-10, I hope to see you on a pool deck learning and enjoying the great sport of water polo. If you see me, say hello and ask me a water polo question.
