Burgess Park Location
501 Laurel St. Menlo Park, CA 94025
The Burgess Park pool complex is complete and full-service. Indoors, find locker rooms and showers, a central lobby area, and front offices. Outdoors, along with three pools, enjoy picnics and shade under the oak trees. Three pools are designed to support a full range of activities. During the winter months, the Instructional Pool is fully enclosed by an air dome to keep our young swimmers and instructors warm.
Instructional Pool: 25 yards x 50 feet, 3.5-6 feet deep, supports 6 lanes, kept at 87 degrees F.
Performance Pool: 25 meters x 25 yards, 7 feet deep, supports 11 lanes, kept at 80 degrees F.
Baby Pool: Splashing water fountain and falls, shallow depths for wading, kept at 87 degrees F.
The Air Dome
In the winter months, November through March, we cover the instructional pool with an inflated dome. The dome is a much-requested feature that provides a consistently warm and predictable environment so you can swim year-round without interruption due to weather. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Air Dome.
Find places to sit and spread out your towel on our benches, on deck, or on the grass. Food allowed on the grassy areas only. Bring your own lock for our outside lockers. You are welcome to bring pool toys, flotation devices, fins, kickboards, and paddles.
Locker Rooms and Showers
There are full men’s and women’s locker rooms that include indoor and outdoor showers. There are also two family changing areas. If you wish to use a locker, please bring your own lock and do not leave belongings overnight. Age policy: Children age 5 and under are allowed in the opposite-gender locker rooms when accompanied by an adult.
There is a small shop in the front office area where you can buy swimsuits, towels, goggles, swim diapers, and various water-sports items. The shop also sells healthy snacks, beverages, and light meals. You can also pick up Menlo Swim and Sport team apparel and gear. Hours are the same as the Menlo Swim and Sport facility hours and you pay for your items at the front desk.
Front Desk and Offices
The front desk is the first place you’ll go when you arrive at the pool. Stop at the desk and give the staff-member your name and the activity you’re checking in for. At the front desk you may also register for classes and pick up information about programs and events.
Conduct and Safety
Please help ensure a great experience for everyone. Before you send your young swimmers to the pool for an afternoon, be aware that we wish to maintain high standards for conduct with emphasis on safety. We encourage behavior that is respectful and mature, and our guards will enforce safety rules both on deck and in the pool.
There are two parking lots on either side of the Burgess gym and pool facility. Both parking lots are shared with the rest of Burgess Park. To minimize impact on the surrounding neighborhood please park in the lots and not on the street. Try riding your bike to the pool!
Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center and Arrillaga Family Gymnasium
Menlo Swim and Sport brings Fitness classes to the Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center (next door to the pool) or the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium (600 Alma Street, Menlo Park. Map). Menlo Fit Boot Camp is offered in the Gymnastics Center and Gymnasium, and Beyond Studio Cycling is offered in the cycling studio in the Gymnastics Center. The Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center was re-opened in 2012, rebuilt from the ground up. The Arrillaga Family Gymnasium was opened in 2010.
Burgess Tennis Courts
In 2013, Menlo Swim and Sport launched the Menlo Tennis Academy, providing weekly youth tennis lessons and private one-to-one lessons for adults and youth. The Burgess Tennis Courts, immediately adjacent to the pools, features two courts with lighting for evening play.
The pool facility is located in Burgess Park, in a residential neighborhood next to the Menlo Park city offices and library. Burgess Park includes ball fields, tennis courts, a skate park, gym and picnic areas, all within walking distance of the CalTrain station and central business district of Menlo Park.
