Junior Lifeguard Challenge

About Junior Lifeguard Challenge

Gear up for our Junior Lifeguard Challenge! Your body and mind will be tested as you work together as a unified team. Learn how to save lives on land and in water. Learn rescue skills, communication skills, strength training and fitness. Grab a friend and get ready! Limited to 12 participants each week.

Learn how to respond to emergencies in and around the water. Campers will receive instruction on how to perform lifesaving CPR, various water rescues for active and inactive victims, and how to render basic first aid. All skills are taught by experienced Menlo Swim and Sport Lifeguards in a safe, fun, and challenging scenario-based format as individuals and in small groups working together.

Prerequisites
Age 9 – 14 (by the first day of camp)
Demonstrate continuous 75 yards of freestyle with side breathing
Tread water for one minute
Submerge and swim 10 feet under water

Daily Water Time
Throughout the week, our Junior Lifeguard campers will learn basic and essential lifeguard skills both on land and in the water. Such skills include proper water entry and a number of different water rescues.

Campers will have a chance to practice their skills with games and relays throughout the week during Open Swim! All of these activities will lead to a final opportunity at the end of the week to show off all they’ve learned. Campers also have the chance to join Open Swim each day, where they can cool down and socialize with their friends!

Q: My child needs to be accompanied by an adult aide. Can they attend Camp?
A: Yes, absolutely! We would love to have your child join us. Please email our customer service team as soon as possible with the aide’s name to start the clearance process.

The aide will complete a LiveScan background check and we need to receive the clearance prior to the first day of camp. Aides accompanying campers must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

Q: Can my child check themselves in and out of Camp?
A: Campers 12 years of age and older or campers that have siblings in camp 12 years of age or older may check themselves in and out of camp with your authorization. This authorization is given in the questionnaire section of the camp registration process. A parent must be present for check-in on the first day of camp.

Q: I was added to the waitlist for Camp. What happens Now?
A: If a spot opens up in your desired camp, you will receive an automatic email from our registration system (communications@perfectmind.com) asking you to confirm or decline the spot. You have 24 hours to respond. After that time, you will be removed from the waitlist.

Q: Do you have any all-day camps?
A: Yes! We are currently running day and extended afternoon camps. You are welcome to sign your child up for both the day and extended session during the same week. You’ll just want to make sure to send your camper with a nutritious lunch.

Q: How do I cancel my Camp registration?
A: You can cancel online or with one of our customer service team members. First, please note the cancellation policy that you agreed to at the time of registration that’s listed above in our Políticas.

KidCheck FAQ

Q: Does my spouse/partner or other guardians need to create a KidCheck account too?
A: Yes, but do not have them add the child onto their account. Once your spouse/partner or other guardians create their KidCheck account you should add them onto your account (the account with the child) as a Guardian.

Q: Why can’t my spouse/partner or other guardians just add the child onto their account?
A: Since KidCheck doesn’t collect personal information like the child’s social security number, your direct relation to the child, or other guardian’s direct relation to the child, or to you, the system won’t recognize the child on separate accounts as being the same child.

Q: The parent of another child and I will be taking turns dropping off or picking up our kids. How do we set this up in KidCheck?
A: First you both will create your separate KidCheck accounts and add only your own child onto your accounts. Then you will add them as a guardian on your account, and they will add you as a guardian onto their account.

Q: I’ve added my child and they are listed in the “Kids” tab but it says “You have not been authorized for any children”. Why is that?
A: Under the “Kids” tab there are two sections. The first section is “My Kids”. Under this section any child you add to your account will show and since they are your kids you automatically have authorization for them. The second section is “Kids I’m Authorized For”. This section will show the kids of other parents that have added you as an authorized guardian for their kids. If you are planning on picking up or dropping off kids other than your own and do not see their names listed under the “Kids I’m Authorized For” section, you need to contact their parent and ask them to add you as an authorized guardian for their child.
